Children's Make-It-and-Take-It Embroidery Classes
The Marion Heritage Center & Museum offers children's embroidery classes on Saturdays and Heritage Center participation art.
The Marion Heritage Center & Museum, in conjunction with the current national traveling exhibit of the Embroiderers' Guild of America, Through the Needles Eye, is offering children's Make-It-and-Take-It embroidery classes. Older kids will stitch a fox face pattern onto a small flag that can be waved in the Swamp Fox Festival Parade and younger kids will lace a punch-holed card in a fox face shape and turn it into a flag they can also wave in the parade on both Saturday, August 20 and Saturday, September 17. From now through September 23rd, outside the museum, during regular business hours, children can lace a punch-holed fox face shape and turn it into a fox image to be in the Swamp Fox Festival Parade on Saturday, September 24th from 9:00 to 10:00 am. On October 1, a more advanced class in which the children work on a needlework sampler will be offered. For further information or to reserve a spot in any or all of the classes, contact Director Lynette Brenzel by calling 319-447-6376.
