Communication by Mail and Egg Tempera Painting Program
Art program to be presented at the Marion Heritage Center.

Artist Bob Peterson will present a program about the Heritage Center’s famous fresco, Communication by Mail by Dan Rhodes, and the challenges of egg tempera painting. This fresco was painted in 1939 on the wall of the Marion Post Office. The work was commissioned as part of the WPA (Works Progress Administration.) The building served as Marion’s Post Office until 1972 and then as the Marion City Hall until 2006. The building was then sold from public use, prompting the Marion Historical Society to acquire and move the historic fresco to the Marion Heritage Center. The Program is Sunday, July 17 at 2:00 pm. Admission is free courtesy of the McIntyre Foundation.
