Construction Begins on Marion's Lowe Park Amphitheatre

The project that's been in progress seemingly forever is one step closer to completion.

Construction has just begun on Marion's Lowe Park Amphitheatre.

Right now, construction crews are carving up the field behind Lowe Park to create the grading, which is the funnel-shaped hollowed out ground that runs right up to the stage.

This first phase of construction is set to end by early November. The second phase will most likely begin by the end of next year, though the Parks and Recreation Department do not have the funds yet.

Parks and Recreation Director Richard Fox previously told Marion Patch that the second and final phase of the construction will be completed by the end of next year, assuming the funds are in place.

"Marion is noted for its arts and music in general and I think this is going to be a great gathering place to enhance that," he said.
