'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' Campaign Results in More than 100 Linn County Arrests

The campaign used additional funding to put more deputies into service to help catch drivers who were operating under the influence over a two week period.

August 26 through September 8, 2013, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office joined other law enforcement officers throughout Iowa and across the country in the “Drive Sober  or Get Pulled Over.” traffic enforcement campaign.  This traffic enforcement effort put 
additional deputies on the streets to watch for drivers operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  

During this two-week traffic enforcement project over the Labor Day 
holiday, Linn County Sheriff’s Deputies spent over 88 additional grant-funded hours patrolling Linn County roadways in hopes of not only "cracking down" on violators, but also in making travel safer for others.
Linn County Sheriff’s Deputies (working both grant and non-grant funded patrol shifts) made 30 arrests and issued 123 citations and 197 warnings during this event.

13 - Seat Belt/Child Restraint Citations
                        56 - Speeding Citations
            85 - Speeding Warnings
  3 - Driver’s License Violation Citations
  5 - Registration Violation Citations
21 - Registration Violation Warnings
15 - No Proof of Insurance Citations
22 - No Proof of Insurance Warnings
42 - Misc. Traffic Violation Citations
            80 - Misc. Traffic Violation Warnings
  1 - Misc. Equipment Violation Citations
25 - Misc. Equipment Violation Warnings
22 - Motorist Assists
10 - Arrest Warrants Served
