Landfill On Marion's Border to Generate Electricity With Methane
The Site 2 landfill, just to the north of Marion's border, may soon be providing electricity to rural residents through burning methane.

The landfill that's sparked in and an environmental group committed to it's eventual end may be generating electricity by January.
But that electricity won't necessarily be coming from the proposed trash vaporizing facility that's been on the lips of city officials and residents for years.
The Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency will be burning methane gas, which is a byproduct of decaying trash, at the Site 2 landfill, according to the Gazette.
