Linn County Authorities Searching for Person of Interest after Center Point Bank Robbery

Authorities are looking for a man named George R. "Ricky" Gaunt.

On Saturday, October 12, 2013, at approximately 11:11 a.m., Linn County Sheriff dispatch received a 911 call from Keystone Savings Bank, 807 Rosedale Dr., Center Point.  Employees at the bank advised that an armed robbery had just occurred.  The suspect was described as a white male in his early 20’s, with short cropped blonde hair, approximately 6’0” and 170 lbs.  He was wearing light grey sweatpants and a darker grey hoodie sweatshirt.


The suspect handed a note to the teller demanding money and after being given cash, fled on foot from the bank in a westerly direction.


Deputies from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Hiawatha Police Department and Iowa State Patrol Troopers responded to the scene and area.  A subsequent investigation resulted in evidence being taken from the scene and surrounding area.  This evidence will be processed in an effort to identify a suspect.

Attached to this News Release are two still photographs captured by surveillance video at the bank.  If anyone recognizes the individual or has additional information reference the bank robbery, please call the Sheriff’s Office at 319-398-3911.  This line is answered 24 hours per day.


Also attached are two photographs of a person of interest in this case,  George R. “Ricky” Gaunt, last known to have resided in Kentucky.  Gaunt was last seen in a late 1990’s gold Maxima or Camry.  The vehicle has a license plate with a blue background.  Gaunt is possibly armed, so do not take any action yourself, but call the Linn County Sheriff’s Office or your local law enforcement agency by calling 911.

The case remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
