Linn Mar Prep Sports Previews: Cross Country Teams have Potential, Football Teams Looks to "Roar Back"
A look at the upcoming seasons for Marion sports from various media outlets.

Both Linn-Mar's cross country and football teams are looking at the upcoming seasons with optimism, as it should be before seasons begin.
On the lady's side, the cross country team has a bonafide star in Stephanie Jenks. Here's what the Des Moines Register said about Jenks in its Prep Cross Country preview, labeling her an athlete to watch this season:
Stephanie Jenks, so., Linn-Mar (Marion): The sophomore ran the fourth-fastest time in state history last year, clocking in at 13:42.
The preview also notes that both Linn-Mar's boys and girls teams did well last year at state and should be competitive again.
As for football, the theme appears to be "Roar Back," as in roaring back from an uncharacteristically poor 3-6 season last year.

After a 3-6 season that was uncharacteristic under sixth-year Coach Bob Forsyth, that’s what the Lions are trying to do with an almost completely new cast taking the field.
“What we did after a year like we had last year is we went back through everything that we do, from offseason workouts, to summer, to what we do in practice and analyzed everything we do,” Forsyth said. “Coming off the season, we were so disappointed last year in the way the season was. We haven’t been used to that.
“So I think our kids are hungry – I know our coaches are hungry – and we’re just going to take it day by day and see how it unfolds.”
