Marion City Engineer Retires After 17 Years

Dan Whitlow is credited with implementing the city's capital improvement program.

MARION, IA — City Engineer Dan Whitlow has retired after 17 years with the city. He previously worked 16 years with the City of Muscatine and later seven year as public works director in Washington.

Whitlow is credited with implementing the Capital Improvement Program that devised scheduled construction and repair work on streets and sewers and development of new subdivisions, the Marion Times reported.

Whitlow has served as building chairman for church expansion projects and has been involved in Habitat for Humanity. He and his wife plan to winter in Venice, Fla., according to the Times.
