Marion May Have Used 37 Percent More Air Conditioning This Year

Alliant Energy's earnings report outlined an interesting detail about how hot this summer has truly been.

If you follow us on Facebook and Twitter, you know I constantly complain about the weather.

Because I'm a little finicky with the heat, I've had my air conditioning on for what feels like the entirety of my summer. I'm guessing you have, too.

Alliant Energy recently released a quarterly earnings report and it seems 6 cents in the total rise of stock value is due to the oppressively hot summer, according to a story from the Gazette.

The report outlined an increase in what's called cooling degree days, which is essentially a measure how much air conditioning is needed to cool a house to a "normal" level.

Apparently, the number of cooling days averaged 36 percent higher this June compared to last June.
