Marion Oil Co-op Blames 'Big Oil' for Delaying Plans for Ethanol-Gasoline Blend - E15

A Marion Cooperative Oil Company said they've been stifled in their plans to offer an ethanol/gasoline mixture by failing to send the gasoline mixture through Iowa gas pipelines.

A Marion cooperative oil company official says "big oil" is to blame for delaying its attempt to be among the first to distribute E15, a fuel blend with 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent gasoline.

. Service Manager Jim Bechtold said that "big oil" has yet to supply the type of gasoline that's used to mix with ethanol for form E15, in effect, stifling their plans, according to a KCRG report.

Since the EPA needs the summer formulation to be blended between June 1 and Sept. 15, it looks like we won’t be seeing the renewable/non-renewable mixture anytime soon. Linn Co-op expects to begin offering E15 to mainstream vehicles in mid-September, according to the KCRG report.

If you're curious, cars from 2001 and newer can apparently use the mixture, according to the EPA, which is supposed to be 5 cents cheaper than E10.
