Marion Police Sgt. to Stand Trial Today

Marion Police Sgt. Phillip Fort has pleaded not guilty to interference with official acts and operation of a boat in violation of buoys.

A Marion Police Sargent will stand trial today accused of disobeying orders from Iowa DNR officials at the Coralville Reservoir

Phillip Fort was allegedly stopped by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Aug. 19 while boating.

He was allegedly making waves inside no-wake boundaries.

Instead of complying with officials who repeatedly requested he stay still, Fort drove the boat back to his dock.

He was charged with interference with official acts and operation in violation of buoys, according to the Gazette.
