Those elected to serve on Marion City Council in the November election will take a ceremonial oath of office on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. It will be the first order of business during the regular City Council Meeting at Marion City Hall, 1225 6th Avenue in Marion.

Nicolas AbouAssaly will begin his second term as mayor, Colette Atkins will continue her service as Ward 1 representative, Will Brandt will begin his second term as Ward 3 representative, and Paul Draper will begin his third term as at-large representative.
Judge Mark Roberts and Judge Fae Hoover-Grinde will administer the oaths of office. A reception with light refreshments will occur from 4:45-5:30 p.m. in the atrium at Marion City Hall.

The Marion City Council is made up of seven members, including the mayor, who serve staggered four-year terms. Other representatives include Randy Strnad, at-large; Steve Jensen, Ward 2; and Rene Gadelha, Ward 4.
In compliance with State code, the City Clerk administered the official oaths prior to Jan. 2, 2020.
