Police Report: Man Who Died in Marion Motorcycle Crash Was Legally Drunk
Andrew S. Lown, 26, of Cedar Rapids, died in Marion in July after a pursuit with law enforcement.

A new police report says that the Cedar Rapids man who died in a Marion motorcycle chase was traveling up to 124 mph while intoxicated.
The Gazette reports that 26-year-old Andrew S. Lown had a blood alcohol content of 0.186 — over twice the legal limit of .08 — when he allegedly sped away from a Linn County Sheriff's deputy.
The original incident occurred July 9 at about 11 p.m.

Linn County Sheriff's deputies tried to stop Lown at the corner of Highway 100 and Highway 13, but he sped off down Highway 100, traveling west, authorities said.
He crashed into a ditch across from the Marion  on Highway 100, where he was pronounced dead on the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.
