A Marion technology company is now involved in a lawsuit with titans of the broadcast industry.
Syncback, a Marion start up that provides live streaming video service to cell phones and other devices, was called to federal court by Aereo, a New York-based company, according to a Des Moines Register report.
Aereo was sued in 2012 by CBS, ABC and Fox, NBC for copyright infringement, according to the Register.
According to the Register, "Aereo captures and reformats over-the-air signals to make them compatible with Internet-enabled devices like smartphones and tablets."
Aereo wanted Syncback to provide documents on CBS' recent investment in Syncback. Syncback said most of the information is public already or irrelevant, according to the Register report.
A judge is expected to rule within a month.
Previous courts have rules with Aereo, but the case could reach the U.S. Supreme Court, the Register reports.
