Two Separate Fatal Accidents Hit Nearby County Farms
It is a dangerous time of year for farmers and motorists. Make sure to watch out for each other.

FARMING FATALITY ACCIDENTÂ
10/03/13
RURAL LINN COUNTY, CENTER POINT IOWA AREA
On Thursday at 6:33 p.m., Linn County Sheriff’s DeputiesÂ
and Linn County Rescue 57 along with Troy Mills Fire Department andÂ
Center Point Ambulance Service responded to a farming related fatalityÂ
accident in rural Linn County, Center Point area. Upon emergencyÂ
personnel’s arrival, they found a male victim in a cattle feed lot that involved a skid loader. The male subject was pronounced dead at the scene.
The name and address of the victim are being withheld pendingÂ
notification of family members.Â
The accident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff’sÂ
Office and the Linn County Medical Examiners Office.
FATALITY ACCIDENT – VEHICLE / FERTILIZER SPREADER
HILLS MILL ROAD/UPPER BOULDER ROAD
10/02/13
On Wednesday 3:53 p.m., Linn County Sheriff’s Deputies and Linn County Rescue 57 along with the Iowa State Patrol, the Prairieburg and Coggon Fire Department’s, LifeGuard Air Ambulance, Manchester Ambulance Service and Linn County Haz-Mat responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Hills Mill Road and Upper Boulder Road near rural Prairieburg.
Upon emergency personnel’s arrival, they found a passenger vehicle on its top and a fertilizer spreader that had rolled at least once coming to rest on its wheels in the ditch.Â
It was found that the passenger vehicle had been south bound on Hills Mill Road and the fertilizer spreader had been west bound on Upper Boulder Road.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, Nicholas Aberle, 20, of Troy Mills was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the fertilizer spreader, Steven Oberreuter, 56, of Manchester was flown by LifeGuard Air Ambulance to St Lukes Hospital for what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries. There were no other occupants in either vehicle.Â

The accident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Marion Police Department Accident Investigation Team and the Linn County Medical Examiners Office.
