UPDATE: Dissent Among Fire Chiefs Who Lifted Linn County's Burn Ban
A non-unaimous decision by Linn County fire chiefs have agreed to end Linn County's ban burn.

The decision by Linn County fire chiefs to end the was not unanimous.
Some argued that drought conditions still persist and thought that the ban should stand, while others, like Ely volunteer fire chief Randy Zbanek, said that while the drought is still in play, there's been enough rain to justify controlled burns.

The Gazette pointed out that with Linn County off the list, 59 out of 99 counties in Iowa still have burn bans.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety has just announced that Linn County will be suspending its burn ban for residents, effective Wednesday at 8 a.m.
Mike Goldberg, emergency management coordinator, initially requested that the burn ban be lifted.
The ban was initiated on July 6, after officials became concerned that the drought was causing plant life to die and become flammable.
