UPDATE: Victim Identified in Crash Following Linn County Motorcycle Chase

The Linn County Sheriff's Department confirmed that Cedar Rapids resident Andrew Lown was the motorcycle driver that died in Marion on Sunday.

Officials have identified Cedar Rapids resident Andrew Lown, 26, as the victim of Sunday's motorcycle crash on Highway 100 in Marion.

The crash occured when the Linn County Sheriffs Department said deputies tried to pull over the driver at the corner of Highway 100 and Highway 13, but he sped off, eventually reaching 100 miles per hour, according to a story from the Gazette.

He crashed into a ditch across from the Marion  on Highway 100, where he crashed and was pronounced dead on the scene.

He was not wearing a helmet, according to the Gazette.
