(Video) Marion Bakery Asked to Audition for Cupcake Wars
Marion's Take the Cake Gourmet Cupcakery has been singled out with eight other cupcake bakers nationwide to audition for the Food Network's Cupcake Wars.
The call came from nowhere: would Megan Knatz, owner of Marion's brand new cupcake shop, audition for the Food Network's Cupcake Wars?
She would, and she did. You can see the audition video for Take the Cake Gourmet Cupcakery above.
But she wasn't sure that she really wanted it. Not until the video producer she hired asked her a lurch-inducing question: There are a lot of cupcake shops, what's so special about yours?

"I was like: 'Well, you know what, we are better than they are,'" she said. Â "When he started pushing me, the claws came out and I was mama bear."
She surprised herself. She said she's only this defensive about her family, but when she considered the work she's put into making a cupcake shop that sold out every day in it's first week, she realized that she was defending her passion, her dreams.

Knatz said she was told by a producer of the show that her bakery is one of eight considered for a late October, early November shoot. She'll find out in a few weeks if she's selected.
Now it's occurring to her that she may actually appear on national television on a extremely competitive reality show.
But she's said she's not planning on playing mind games or acting like a diva on the baking, competition-based show. Knatz said she's planning on making the best cupcakes she has, within the limitations of the competition, instead of vying for attention.
"[The Food Network]Â are not out of to show world the world awesome cupcakes," she said. "They are out to see some compete."
