RAGBRAI's 40th Anniversary Celebration: Tonight in Cedar Rapids
RAGBRAI organizers have chosen Cedar Rapids as an overnight destination for cyclists, and the site for the 40th anniversary celebration.

Cedar Rapids is hosting RAGBRAI's 40th anniversary celebration tonight, in addition to being an overnight stop for cyclists and the and the first pass-through town tomorrow morning.
Jennifer Pickar, the marketing director for The Cedar Rapids Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, said the city is planning on 20,000 people in downtown Cedar Rapids for the the party, which will host a series of concerts with Counting Crows and several other music acts, starting at 4:30 p.m.
"It is just a really fun atmosphere," said Pickar. "You can be a part of this celebration and this really cool event."

Earlier in the day, Ellis Park will be hosting food vendors from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will offer aqua golf starting at 1 p.m. You can also visit Veterans Memorial Stadium to see broadcasted Cedar Rapids Kernels games while the team is out on the road, in addition to a presentation of the film Field of Dreams.
There will also be several family activities earlier that day. Rockwell Collins is sponsoring a kids play zone in Greene Square Park from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Across the street at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art parking lot, General Mills will be fitting children for free safety helmets from 2 - 4 p.m.

Friday morning you can stop by the Czech Village for Breakfast on the Bridge, where you can share a meal with riders made by several local vendors, from 6 to 10 a.m.
Tickets for the concert series can be purchased for $25 from Theatre Cedar Rapids, here, or at their box office.
