Women of Marion: Learn to Defend Yourself (Without Guns) at Local Gun Shop
Cedar Valley Outfitters will be holding a women's situational awareness and self-defense class.

AÂ Linn County sheriff training supervisor will be conducting a women's self-defense class in Marion
Chris Smaby will be leading the class — designed to help women ward off "unwanted advances or attack" — at Marion's Cedar Valley Outfitters, a weapons dealer.Â
It's a two-night, six-hour class that begins either Dec. 4 or Dec. 6.

But just because it takes place at a gun shop doesn't mean you'll be raising a pistol in a firing range. It's billed as a "non-firearms" class.
