2014 Urbandale Police Department Awards
Urbandale has named it's 2014 Officer, Reserve Officer and Civilian Employee of the Year.

The Urbandale Police Department has announced the 2014 Officer of the Year, Reserve Officer of the Year, and Civilian Employee of the Year. Listed below is each recipient’s bio:
K-9 Sabre and Handler Sgt. Shane Taylor
Sabre is a 6 year old German shepherd that Sgt. Shane Taylor has worked with for the past 4 years. During more than 420 deployments, Sgt. Taylor and Sabre are credited with several million dollars’ worth of illegal narcotics and large quantities of cash involved in illicit trades. Sabre and Sgt. Taylor also won the 2012 Heart of America Police Dog Association case of the year. Sgt. Taylor and Sabre have provided several public demonstrations, showing off Sabre’s skills in narcotics detection, suspect apprehension, and tracking.

Reserve Officer Todd Pettit

Reserve Officer Todd Pettit received his Iowa Law Enforcement Academy Reserve Officer certification in July 2013. Reserve Pettit has dedicated his life to the Urbandale community as a Jensen elementary school teacher for over 22 years. During 2014 Pettit volunteered over 620 hours with the Urbandale Police Department by assisting with patrol, training, 4th of July activities, National Night Out, and Shop With A Cop.
Lisa Andrews
Lisa joined the Urbandale Police Department in 2011 as an Administrative Assistant in the Administrative Services Division. Within that division she is assigned to the Records Section with her main duty being the coordination, and dissemination of police department statistics. Lisa has an intimate understanding of electronic workflows and systems management. Lisa is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Communications.
