Northview Park Selected Mayor's Tour de Trails & Tree Planting

Urbandale's Tree Board is sponsoring a tree-planting event May 6 at 1 p.m. “Bestland Park,” Mayor Robert Andeweg announced at Tuesday night's City Council meeting. 

The Mayor's semi-annual Tour de Trails walk also will be held at the same time.

This is Urbandale's fourth “Tour de Trails” event, and is meant to promote and showcase the extensive trail system available in Urbandale, as well as provide an opportunity for residents from all parts of the community to join together for fellowship and recreation.

The Tour de Trails Event, is a family friendly event and will highlight the trail system through the Northview Estates park and wetlands area.

The event will start at 1:00 p.m. at the parking lot of the Metro Ice Sports Facility, 5100 72nd St., heading east along the trail past Northview Estates Park and Northview Estates Wetlands, to the bridge leading into Johnston , which is the turnaround point.

The City of Urbandale is recognized as a Tree City USA community and the Tree Board sponsors an annual community tree event to plant trees on public property during National Arbor Day to ensure a greener, healthier tomorrow.

MidAmerican Energy awarded $2,000 through its “Tree Please! 2012” Program to plant trees at the “Northview Estates Park”, at 69th and Deerview Drive as a reforestation and beautification effort for the park.
