- Urbandale has two new police officers. Bryce Boehm, 25, and Ben Wiele, 24, were sworn in Tuesday night by Mayor Robert Andeweg, reports DesMoinesRegister.com.
- No word yet on whether Urbandale's Kmart store will be one of the 120 Kmart and Sears stores that will be closed in 2012. Sears Holdings Corp. announced that it must cut operating costs based on poor holiday sales, particularly in electronics, according to an article on kcrg.com.
