Brutal Home Invasion Causes Urbandale Man's Death 4 Months Later
An attempted murder charge against Magai Anai Kur could be upgraded following the death of the victim.

URBANDALE, IA — The death of an Urbandale man on Monday, four months after he was attacked and stabbed in his home, could lead to additional charges for the man accused of the violent act. Robert Howe, 77, died of complications following the Sept. 3 stabbing.
Marilyn Howe, the widow of Robert Howe, told KCCI her husband was beaten, choked and stabbed the night of the attack and that he later suffered a stroke. He had been hospitalized since the incident occurred.
Magai Nathaniel Anai Kur, 19, a Saylor Township resident, was arrested for the attack, which occurred in the 6300 block of Urbandale Avenue. He remains in the Polk County Jail and is charged with attempted murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and second-degree theft, with bonds set in excess of $150,000. He was denied bond due to a probation violation.

With Howe's death, the Polk County Attorney’s Office could amend the charges against Kur.
