Catch Up Fast: The Holiday Week on Urbandale Patch

The week between Christmas and New Year's usually is a pretty slow news week. The last week before Tuesday's Iowa Caucuses livened things up a bit. Here are my favorite stories from last week.

Saturday: The holiday week was less merry for a dozen people arrested in Urbandale on theft and alcohol-related charges.

Friday: Urbandale's state representative Scott Raecker endorsed Newt Gingrich after the former speaker of the House's early morning speech at the Wakonda Club in Des Moines.

Thursday: Two Urbandale couples will share a $100,000 Powerball jackpot.

Wednesday: Brandon Plummer, the University of Iowa student from Urbandale, was released from jail after a month when a $100,000 cash bond was posted on his behalf.

Outbreaks of the norovirus, which has symptoms to similar to the stomach flu, were confirmed in Polk and Linn counties.

Tuesday: Patch compiled several videos of Occupy the Caucuses protestors and a "gay robot" trying to disrupt Michele Bachmann's appearance at the Hamburg Inn in Iowa City. In the second and third videos you can see Brad Zaun, Urbandale's former mayor, current state senator, and Bachmann supporter, by her side.

Monday: I was somewhat surprised to learn that four of the Republican presidential candidates don't believe the theory of evolution, which is universally accepted by scientists. Can you guess which four?
