Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges in Urbandale

An Urbandale man was charged with drug possession after police stopped him on minor traffic issue.

The Urbandale arrests below are preliminary criminal charges. They do not represent convictions or court resolutions. 

June 6: Brian J. Soper, 39, of Urbandale, was charged with possession of a controlled substance. He was driving in the 11300 block of Douglas Avenue in a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme when he was stopped for having an allegedly expired registration.

June 5: A 44-year-old preschool teacher reported that two bicycles were stolen from her driveway in the 4400 block of 162nd Street.

June 4: A 23-year-old Urbandale man reported that someone damaged the gas tank of his motorcycle while it was parked at his home in the 7800 block of Douglas Avenue. 

June 3: Kum & Go convenience store at 8228 Douglas Ave. reported that someone passed a counterfeit $20 bill at the convenience store.

A 57-year-old woman reported that someone stole medication from a room June 3 at Villa Lodge, 11000 Douglas Ave.
