Elderly Urbandale Woman's Bank Account Pilfered of $26,000

Someone has been stealing money from a 71-year-old Urbandale woman's bank account for more than a year, according to an Urbandale police report.

All told, an esimtated $26,000 has been withdrawn from the woman's account since June of 2011.

The amounts were small in the beginning, but began to grow larger, said Urbandale Lt. Rob Johansen. 

He said the woman has diminished capacity and when the amounts began to grow, someone at her bank began to notice the withdrawals and contacted the woman's executor. The bank and executor reported the withdrawals to police.

No charges have yet been filed.
