Enjoy the Great Outdoors This Weekend, Urbandale
This weekend promises to be great summer weather. Here are five things to do outdoors.

Friday: 4:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Friday Fest at Standing Hampton, which describes itself as a "70s and 80s Power Pop Classic Rock band" will be playing. Other features at the event include 16-inch softball games and an inflatable bounce house, Airbrush Body Creations and Sam & Louie's Pizza. Admission:Â $7 for adults includes a cup, wristband and 3-drink tickets. Children under 12 are free.Â
Friday: Dusk at Colby Park in Windsor Heights, free family movie night featuring Kung Fu Panda. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and picnics. Check the city's website for the movie schedule for the rest of the summer.
Saturday: 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. registration and beginning of the Charles Gabus Memorial Ride at the s; $10 for one rider, $25 for family. Three rides are available: 25, 51 and 73 miles. Hamburgers and hot dogs served until 2 p.m. The ride benefits childhood literacy, suburban trails and the Des Moines Bicycle Collective.Â

Saturday: 11:30 a.m. If you lean red, head over to Congressman Tom Latham's campaign headquarters, 2775 86th St., for a grand opening lunch featuring a free barbecue lunch and ice cream treats, volunteering and treats.Â
Sunday: 1-5 p.m. Â Bring the kids to the summer carnival at the pool, with a water slide, carnival games, prizes and free hot dogs, chips and drinks. Admission: $8.Â
