Hassle-Free Driving: Urbandale Road Report

Urbandale  has plenty of road projects going this summer. We'll tell you the streets and intersections to avoid, and those you can use but may delay you. 

Week of July 23

CAUTION: 86th Street and Douglas Avenue intersection: The outside, southbound traffic lane of 86th Street will be closed another week. The city is creating turn lanes at the intersection. Also, watch for dump trucks and heavy equipment as Hy-Vee is disassembling its parking lot and hauling dirt across Douglas Avenue to city land, where it is being used as fill dirt.

AVOID: Meredith Drive; 86th to 94th: The street is closed to all traffic. 94th Street is open

NEW: Meredith Drive; 104th to Northwest Urbandale Drive: Open

AVOID: Meredith Drive; 102nd to 104th Streets: Local traffic only.

AVOID: Meredith Drive; 100th to 102nd Streets: Closed. Neighborhood traffic should use Tanglewood Drive/95th Street to access Meredith and 100th Street to  access the 102nd Street area. 

Aurora Avenue; 70th to 86th Streets: Open but the city is patching concrete until Aug. 20.

128th Street, between Hickman Road and Douglas Avenue: The street remains open in the widening project. However, the entrances to Cardinal Lane and Wilden Drive from 128th Street. 121st Street between Douglas Avenue and Meredith Drive: Construction workers are working on the west side of the road, but two lanes of traffic are open in this widening project.
