Jinxed Urbandale Condo Hit by Second Truck This Year
A runaway tree-trimming truck rolled into an Urbandale condominium, knocking out supports to the deck of the unit above it Wednesday afternoon. Rare as it may be, this actually happened before to this ill-fated condo.
Tree trimmers for A Notch Above Tree Service said their truck apparently slipped out of gear and rolled down a hill and across the street to strike a condominium at 8100 Dellwood Drive Wednesday afternoon.
The scene seems scripted for a National Lampoon's spoof, except this really happened. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
The truck rolled right between two evergreen trees, down a steep bank and right into the condominium where it sat wedged into the structure. In the crash, it took out supports for a deck on an upper level unit.

Peggy Wilson was sleeping on the couch at her mother's unit right above the condo that was hit.
"I thought a bomb went off," she said. "I said what was that?"

Her mother, Betty Torry, saw the truck roll into the building, which has eight condos. The woman who used to live in the apparently cursed unit died this year, Wilson said.
Workers for the tree service said they were taking down limbs on a small tree across Colby Woods Drive around 1:30 p.m. That's when the truck took on a life of its own. A wood chipper was attached to the truck, which was hauling the chipped wood.Â
No one was injured in the accident. No one was in the truck and Wilson said the condo that was hit was vacant.
The kicker is, this actually happened before.
Earlier this year a parked truck rolled from across the street and struck that same condo, Wilson said.
