Listen To The Music: Urbandale Band Hosts Marching Invitational Saturday
More than 2,300 high school musicians will take part Saturday in the Urbandale Marching Band Invitational.

URBANDALE, IA. -- Urbandale High School will play host to the 20th annual Urbandale Marching Band Invitational on Saturday. Nearly 2,300 musicians will take part.
The program includes bands from 22 area high schools. Opening ceremonies begin at 3:25 p.m. at Frerichs Field adjacent to the school, 7111 Aurora Ave.
Area schools expected to perform include Des Moines Christian in Class 2A; Bondurant, Saydel, Carlisle and North Polk in 3A; and Indianola, Des Moines Roosevelt and Southeast Polk in 4A.

The Urbandale Marching J-Hawks will perform in exhibition at 9:30 p.m. Awards will be presented at 10 p.m. with honors in Class 2A, 3A and 4A and for best color guard and drumline.

Admission is $6 for adults and students in grades 9-12 and $4 for students in grades K-8.
The invitational will require the assistance of more than 100 volunteers through the day and evening.
