Look Who Got Arrested in Urbandale Last Weekend
Urbandale Police made several arrests in the past week.

The Urbandale arrests below are preliminary criminal charges. They do not represent convictions or court resolutions.Â
Wednesday, May 16: Shannel Bumpus, 42, of Des Moines, was charged with second-degree theft.Â

Thursday, May 17: Â Lucas A. Jackson, 20, of Urbandale, was charged with possession of drug paraphrenalia.
Vernon J. Schuessler, 55, of Elkhart, was charged May 17 with violating a  no-contact order with his ex-wife, who lives in Urbandale. Schuessler was in Polk County Jail in February and two weeks ago on the same charge. He is accused of writing a letter to her and calling her on the phone in violation of the order.

William L. Tatum, 47, of Des Moines, was charged with forgery, counterfeiting and credit card or identity theft. Police said Tatum is accused of illegally using a stolen credit card. The card belongs to a woman, who reported earlier this year that her purse had been stolen from her car while it was parked at the Tatum also was in Polk County jail last summer on charges of public intoxication and second-degree theft, according to jail records.
Saturday, May 19:  Kenny L. Johnson, 29, of Ankeny, was charged with  possession of drugs and drug paraphrenalia, and child endangerment. Police were investigating an alleged theft from and stopped Johnson and Melissa Raredin as they were driving from the discount store. The car was impounded for no insurance and expired registration and Raredin was charged with those traffic charges. Officers then found drugs and drug paraphrenalia in the car. There were no theft charges filed. The couple also had a four-year-old girl in the car.
Guy W. Nevins, 58, of Urbandale, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication at the at 8701 Hickman Road on Saturday.
Brent J. Spyksma, 39, of Urbandale, was charged with first-offense drunken driving and having an open container of alcohol Saturday. He was arrested in the 12800 block of Douglas Avenue
Sunday, May 20: Antonio M. Garrett, 19, of Des Moines, was charged domestic assault with injury. Garrett was arrested on a warrant stemming from a February incident in which he and his girlfriend got into an argument at the Balkan Bar, 8048 Douglas Ave. The woman left the bar and drove to the at 82nd and Douglas Avenue. Garrett was a passenger in another car that followed her there, said Lt. Rob Johansen. The woman then got into the car with Garrett and he allegedly struck her several times and bit her. The woman flagged down an Urbandale officer and Garrett allegedly ran from the scene.
