Both men graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy on April 13 and began their training with other officers in Urbandale. They likely will be patroling on their own next month, said Lt. Rob Johansen.
Urbandale was able to add the two officers because of a $509,508 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice that promotes community policing. The grant covers the officers' salaries for the next three years.
