More Trees? Urbandale Has Plans to Plant 29 in Lakeview Park
The city recently received a Trees Please! Grant.

Arbor Day isn't until April 26, but the city of Urbandale recently announced plans for more trees in the city.
MidAmerican Energy presented the City Council and the Urbandale Tree Board with a $3,000 Trees Please! grant at the March 19th Council meeting.Â
The Trees Please! grant program is a matching grant that promotes energy efficiency by providing windbreaks and shade, while beautifying parks, roadways and common areas.Â

The City will use the $3,000 grant to plant 29 trees in Lakeview Park this year.Â
The Urbandale Tree Board has selected (3) American Hornbeam, (3) Hackberry, (4) Eastern Red Bud, (5) Crab Tree, (2) Sugar Maple, (4) Red Maple, (4) Kentucky Coffee Tree, (3) Cockspur Hawthorn, and (1) White Oak to be planted.
