Pick Up a Car, Lawn Mower, Snow Blower, or iPod at Urbandale Police Auction
The police department's annual auction begins at 9 a.m. sharp and you must show a valid driver's license to get a bidding number.

If you're looking for a good deal on a used car, check out the Urbandale police auction Saturday.
The police department is auctioning 26 vehicles, ranging in model years from 1986 to 2005. They also will auction bicycles, lock box safes, doors, cameras, iPods, leaf blowers, a lawn mower and a snow blower.Â
All of the property has been seized or turned over to the police department and no owners have collected it, said Police Information Officer Randy Peterson.

Peterson said the Urbandale auction is in competition with Polk County's much larger annual auction on the same day, but he said that may mean that the bids in the Urbandale auction are lower if there's not as much competition.
Urbandale's auction begins at 9 a.m. at the city's public works garage at 9401 Hickman Road.

You must bring a valid driver's license to obtain a bidding number, he said. There will be no exceptions to this policy.
Full payment must be made within an hour of the end of the sale and the vehicles must be removed from the public works yard no later than 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7.
