Planning Some Yard Work This Weekend? Urbandale Begins Collecting Monday

The warm weather has prompted Urbandale to start picking up yard waste two weeks earlier than usual.

Compost It! yard waste collection is in demand earlier this year because of the unseasonably warm temperatures.

Metro Waste Authority and its collection partners — Waste Management and Urbandale Public Works — have been able to gear up to start collecting yard waste on March 19, two weeks sooner than planned.

"Given the number of yard waste bags I saw this morning in my neighborhood, pushing up the collection will be much appreciated by all," said Reo Menning, public affairs director for Metro Waste Authority.
