POLL: Is 'Dirty Dancing' a Problem at Urbandale School?

Urbandale resident Carla Johnson spoke Monday to the Urbandale School Board, asking school administrators to crack down on "dirty dancing" at the Urbandale Homecoming Dance Oct. 15.

Johnson, whose child graduated from Urbandale High School four years ago, said she has friends whose children won't go to the dance because they are intimidated by the "grinding" dance style, according to Des Moines Register reporter Tiffany De Masters.

Grant Wierson, student senate president and son of board member Mark Wierson, said the dancing style Johnson is worried about isn't a problem at school dances. He said students generally follow the conduct rules and administrators are at the dance to enforce them.
