Urbandale Police: Party Led to Apartment Theft While Resident Was Gone
Urbandale police received several reports of property damage and theft last week and arrested a woman for an apartment burglary.

The Urbandale arrests below are preliminary criminal charges. They do not represent convictions or court resolutions.Â
Tuesday, May 22: Cassandra J. Grandstaff, 19, of Clive was charged with third-degree burglary in connection with the theft of a television, laptop computer, PlayStation3, games and controller from an Urbandale apartment.
The tenant of the apartment reported the burglary on Jan. 14. He said he returned after being away from the apartment for a couple of days to find the back door was kicked in and his property stolen.

Lt. Rob Johansen said Urbandale detectives discovered that the man's roommate had some friends over shortly before the burglary and clues from there led to Grandstaff.
Monday, May 20: A 31-year-old woman reported that someone broke the side mirror off her Ford Fusion while it was parked in the 8700 block of Meredith Drive.Â

A 40-year-old woman reported a child's electric scooter was stolen from her home in the 7300 block of Canterbury Road on May 20.
Thursday, May 17: Several boys in a car threw a handful of rocks at the windshield of a 48-year-old Clive woman's Toyota Avalon and Honda Civic, damaging the windshield. The cars were parked in the 4400 block of 121st Street.Â
A 14-year-old boy was charged in juvenile court with the theft of a digital camera from a 38-year-old teacher at Urbandale Middle School on May 17.Â
