Record Warm Temps For May - Oops - March 14

Urbandale has skipped spring and gone straight into summer. The predicted high today is 80 degrees with sunny skies.

Sunburns are popping out as quickly as flowering plants are budding.

The summer temperatures of recent days have plants budding and ready to bloom. The warm temps and sunny days also mean a fresh crop of sunburn skin for many.

On Tuesday we tied the record high for central Iowa of 77, set in 2007. The National Weather Service says Urbandale should see a high temperature of 80 today and again on Thursday, which again could tie a record.

And the gorgeous weather should continue into the weekend, with highs in the low to mid 70s throughout the week.

Just to add some reality to the forecast: the Weather Service says the normal high for this time of year in the metro is 48 degrees.
