Slap Down Some Flapjacks For Good Causes, Urbandale
Is there really a season for pancake feeds? In Urbandale, we think not.

You have no shortage of opportunities to eat pancakes in Urbandale in the next couple weeks — all for good causes.

- I'm raising money for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and other local children's charities at the International House of Pancakes today (Feb. 28). Get a free stack of pancakes until 10 tonight and make a contribution. Last year IHOP served four million free pancakes and pancake lovers donated $2.5 million to children's charities.
- I'm raising money for scholarships for Urbandale young people. The Urbandale Lioness and Lions Clubs are hosting a pancake and brunch fundraiser at the Urbandale Senior Center Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children for a brunch of two-egg omelettes with five topping options, pancakes, muffins, orange drink and coffee. Money goes to the All Citizen Scholarship Foundation of Urbandale.
- I'm helping to build a bocce ball court at the Urbandale Senior Center. Urbandale Health Care Center is sponsoring the pancake breakfast at the health care, 4614 N.W. 84th St., from 8 Â to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10. A free-will donation will be accepted.
