St. Pius X Catholic School collected old athletic shoes for a week in December 2012.

Those 321 pairs of shoes collected will be shipped to Nike's recycling center to become material for athletic fields and playgrounds.

To liven up the collection, the City offered an award and a prize to the classrooms that could collect the most pairs of old athletic shoes.  The winning class was Ms. Pederson's class.

The second place award was a tie between Ms.Weibel & Ms. Halligan's class and Ms. Zimmerman's class.

Mayor Andeweg presented the winning classrooms with awards and $150 prize for first place and $100 prize for second place on Thursday, January 24th.
