Three Injured on I-80 When Car Leaves Highway

Two Ankeny teenagers and a Boone woman were injured Sunday when their car left Interstate Highway 80 south just east of Merle Hay Road and came to rest on a bike trail below the highway.

Driver Ryan DoLittle, 17, and passengers Seth Heles, 19 and Rachel Wicks, 22, were taken to Des Moines hospitals by Johnston and Saylor Township emergency medical technicians early Sunday morning.

All three were wearing seatbelts. DoLittle told police that he fell asleep at the wheel.

DoLittle and Heles were charged as minors in possession of alcohol and Wicks was issued a citation accusing her of providing alcohol to minors.
