Urbandale Fire Station Bond Referendum Passes By Large Margin

Construction on the $6 million fire station and a fueling station will begin early in 2018, with completion expected by mid-2019.

URBANDALE, IA — A new fire station in the northwest part of the city will be constructed next year after voters passed the $6 million bond referendum Tuesday night. The vote received about 83 percent approval.

Fire Station No. 43 will be built in Walnut Creek Regional Park at 152nd Street and Meredith Drive. In addition to quicker response times for fire and medical emergencies, it will create operational efficiencies in the department, Fire Chief Jerry Holt told Patch last month.

Final designs for the fire station will be prepared in the coming weeks and the construction will begin in early 2018, with completion expected in early to mid-2019, Holt told Patch.
