The Urbandale Public Arts Committee and Urbandale High School Art Department worked together to provide the display.

City Hall is now home to an art exhibit by Urbandale High School students.

The exhibit, sponsored by the Urbandale Public Art Committee, was produced by the Photography and Ceramics classes taught by Patricia Christiansen at Urbandale High School.

The artwork was the result of several assignments, Christiansen said.

"The assignment requirements for the Ceramic work was based on techniques or building techniques," she said. "The photos projects were drawn from the two components of the class.  The first is a weekly digital assignments the students shoot called "Photo Friday," the students receive a challenge- most often drawn directly from the website named Photofriday.com that provides a broad theme topic such as "Summer Colors" or "Serene."   The other major component of the Photography class is working in black and white film."

The exhibit, which is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., will change frequently.

"We would like to show artwork from all of our classes - the last showcase was ink drawings from the Art Explorations class," Christiansen said of the revolving exhibits.

"Showing our work makes us feel more like we are creating works of art rather than merely fulfilling class assignments; it's more real-world to have the work shown to the public," she said. "I hope that all students are proud of the work they create in our classes and inspired by the work of their peers."
