Urbandale New Construction Growing Steadily
The city has its best February for new construction permits in two years.

Home construction in Urbandale continues to gradually recover.
Home builders took out permits in February to build a dozen new homes in Urbandale, for a total of nearly $3 million in value, according to the city's monthly report of building permits
The February report reflects a continuation of last year's slow resurgence of building in the city, which has been depressed since 2008.

Steve Franklin, community development manager for Urbandale, said the permits were scattered among Bent Creek Estates, Walnut Creek Estates, Berkshire Summit, Berkshire Estates, and Summit Estates.
The city also issued a permit to for its $4.7 million warehouse expansion, said Franklin.Â

In total, the city issued $7.8 million in building permits, almost double the combined February construction in 2010 and 2011.Â
