Urbandale To Participate In 'Coffee With A Cop' Event
Citizens big and small will have a chance to meet and interact with Urbandale police at two events at the library this week.

URBANDALE, IA — Cops and kids and coffee are on the agenda at the Urbandale Public Library this week when two events are hosted in partnership with the Urbandale Police Department. "Storybooks with Officer Brooks" is scheduled for kids on Tuesday night, and Coffee with a Cop — part of a national effort to bring citizens and police together — will be Friday morning.
Officer Anthony Brooks will be the guest reader at the weekly evening storytime program at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the library's story room. The program is targeted to preschool-age children and features fun and interactive stories to keep the whole family entertained and engaged.
Coffee with a Cop will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday in the Officer Justin Martin Community Room at the library, 3520 86th St. Representatives from the police department will be on hand to answer questions and talk with community members. Coffee and snacks will be available.

Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative to break down barriers between police officers and residents in a neutral location. Started in 2011 by the Hawthorne, Calif., Police Department, coffees have been hosted in all 50 states and in several locations overseas.
