Urbandale Police Blotter: Meth, Drunken Drivers and An Armed Man
Urbandale police had a busy week last week, making several alcohol- and drug-related arrests.

Police Charge Two for Meth Sales
Urbandale police arrested two people in the past week on charges of manufacturing or possessing methamphetamine to sell it.
Crystal A. Jimenez, 37, of Des Moines was arrested Jan. 6 and Vilachath F. Khouamany, 37, of Sacramento, Calif., was arrested on the same charge on Jan. 10.

Urbandale Lt. Rob Johansen said arrests may not have had any specific connection with, but that an Urbandale detective works on the Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force, and he was in charge of the case that resulted in these two arrests.
"Meth arrests in Urbandale are not common," said Johansen, "but it's not all that uncommon because meth is everywhere."

The Urbandale arrests below are preliminary criminal charges. They do not represent convictions or court resolutions.Â
Below is a list of the major arrests and incidents investigated in the past week.
Friday, Jan. 5
Two residents of reported separate incidents of thefts from unlocked vehicles. A 33-year-old Urbandale woman reported that her purse was stolen from her Honda Civic at 7614 Camelot Drive. A 27-year-old man reported that a GPS device was stolen from his vehicle at 7501 Camden Lane.Â
A 28-year-old Urbandale cake decorator reported that she is receiving harassing text messages from a former boyfriend. The case is being investigated.
An 81-year-old Urbandale man reported that someone stole a lamp and financial documents from his home in the 4100 block of 64th Street sometime between the end of October and the end of December.
Saturday, Jan. 6
Joel Mathias Johnson, 30, of Urbandale was charged with third-offense drunken driving, speeding, violating the conditions of his restricted license, and failure to yield the right-of-way to an emergency vehicle. Johnson was stopped in the 10200 block of eastbound Interstate 80 at 1:15 a.m. His car was impounded.
Brandon R. Porter, 23, of Urbandale was charged with first-offense drunken driving. He was stopped in the 7000 block of Douglas Avenue at 4:30 a.m. His vehicle was impounded.
A 55-year-old Clive woman reported that two shirts were stolen from her vehicle while it was parked in the morning at , 11149 Plum Drive.
A 68-year-old resident of , 4614 84th St., has accused an employee of slapping him. Lt. Johansen said nursing homes must report all such allegations to police and state inspectors. Johansen said the worker claims the resident bit him, the resident says the 47-year-old West Des Moines employee slapped him. A third witness did not see a slap.Â
Christopher Montinguise, 21, of Urbandale, was arrested on second-degree theft charges in connection with the theft of personal property from an acquaintance.Â
Sunday, Jan. 8
Harris K. Gibron, 19 of West Des Moines, Austin D. Jackson, 20, of Palo, and Tanor D. Jimmison, 19, of West Des Moines were arrested on charges of passing counterfeit money at . Gibron and Jackson, also were charged with lying to police about their identities. Â
Angela R. Kiefer, 27, of Des Moines was charged with second-degree theft in connection with a shoplifting incident at Kohl's in Merle Hay Mall.Â
Monday, Jan. 9
A 31-year-old security guard at a private party at the , 6805 Douglas Ave., reported he was assaulted.
Steven J. Morton, 44, of Urbandale, was charged with third-offense drunken driving. He was stopped at 8 p.m. at the intersection of 72nd Street and Meredith Drive. His vehicle was impounded.
A 30-year-old Des Moines man reported the tires on his car were slashed at 4517 60th St. and that he suspects his girlfriend. No arrests have been made.
Tuesday, Jan. 10
At about midnight, police were called to 3916 65th St. on a report of an armed man. John B. Latshaw, 56, of Urbandale was arrested on charges of assault while displaying a weapon, simple assault, harassment, and marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession. He allegedly threatened a friend of his girlfriend's with a weapon.
Wednesday, Jan. 11
An employee of Atlantic Bottling Company of Waukee reported the theft of money from vending machines at area hotels.
A 61-year-old Urbandale woman reported a suspected burglary of jewelry from her home at 4482 86th St. The police report noted that there were pry marks on a door to her house and one to her garage.
