Urbandale Police Blotter: Women Went Wild

Urbandale police arrested more women than men last week, according to police reports from Jan. 10-15.

The Urbandale arrests below are preliminary criminal charges. They do not represent convictions or court resolutions. 

Road Rage Arrest After Vehicle Rammed

Friday the 13th was very unlucky for Kelly L. Ruepke, 21, of Adel.

Ruepke was arrested at 2851 86th St. in connection with an incident of alleged road rage. She is accused of repeatedly ramming her vehicle into one that carried her boyfriend and two other friends.

Ruepke was charged with second-offense drunken driving, assault with a dangerous weapon (her vehicle), reckless driving and improper use of lanes.

Pranks and Damage West of Park

Vandals and pranksters were out Jan. 14 in residential neighborhoods west of

A 47-year-old Urbandale woman reported that someone threw eggs at her car and threw the newspaper about the front yard at 4004 Patricia Drive. Farther south, someone broke the tops of four solar lights along the sidewalk next to a house at 3409 Patricia Drive. And three streets over, a 63-year-old man reported that someone removed the U.S. flag hanging from his home and put it in a tree. 

Jan. 11

A stolen cell phone was recovered by police from a 16-year-old student at the school.

A man driving a Honda Pilot SUV drove away without paying for gasoline at the station at 6990 Douglas Ave.

A 48-year-old Grimes woman reported that a pickpocket stole $200 from her at the Aldi grocery store at 8440 Douglas Ave. 

Jan. 12

Shannon L. Tedford, 32, of Marion was charged with interference with official acts at the Ramada Tropics Resort, 5000 Merle Hay Road. Police said she was intoxicated.

A 44-year-old Urbandale man in the process of a divorce reported being harassed by a text message.

Jan. 13

Christopher R. Elliott, 39, of Des Moines was arrested on a fugitive warrant for nonpayment of child support.

Julie L. Gragen, 29, of Des Moines was charged with third-degree theft in connection with a shoplifting of $672 in merchandise from

Jan. 14

Alicia M. Haley, 25, of Des Moines was arrested at Younkers in Merle Hay Mall on charges of shoplifting, failing to disclose her true identity to police and several outstanding warrants.

A 26-year-old Urbandale man reported that his residence at 2901 70th St. was burglarized and a television, laptop, PlayStation 3 and several video games were stolen.

Jan. 15:

Zachary R. Kendall, of Des Moines was charged with second-offense drunken driving and making an illegal U-turn.
