Urbandale's Adam Obrecht Honored With Forestry Leader Award
The Urbandale school board member was honored as Outstanding Civic Leader for his work planting trees on school yards.

The Iowa Urban and Community Forestry Council is proud to announce Adam Obrecht from Urbandale as an Outstanding Civic Leader for 2012.
The award was presented at the 22nd Annual Urban and Community Forestry Awards Luncheon on April 17, 2012 held at the Stoney Creek Inn in Johnston.Â
In 2011, Adam Obrecht, Urbandale school board member, began a campaign to dramatically increase the tree canopy on Urbandale’s school grounds. Obrecht’s first project was to plant 40 trees at Webster elementary, which included all 470 pre-K through 5th grade students in the planting.
Obrecht is currently working on plans to plant an additional 120 trees at four different Urbandale schools on May 2.Â
Adam Obrecht is an outstanding example of Iowa’s community forestry leaders, by enhancing our forest resources. The trees planted and maintained by Obrecht and the Urbandale school district will benefit Urbandale for future generations.
