Urbandale Special Education Teacher Honored with Rotary Award
The Urbandale Middle School teacher also received a $500 prize in addition to the award.
An Urbandale special education teacher is the recipient of the Ken Lepley Memorial Hero in Education Award, according to the Des Moines Register.
Julie McKibben, who teaches at Urbandale Middle School, also received a $500 prize in addition to the award. The award is given by the Rotary Club of Northwest Des Moines.
McKibben was recognized for her work in transforming the district’s special education program, the article said.
McKibben has also developed connections in the community to provide her students with opportunities to participate in community-based education.
